The W\u2019s landscape defined the intersection between the hotel and the water and gave residents and guests a seamless experience between indoors and outdoors. The integration of the marina as a part of the landscape strategy\u2013creating floating lounges that took advantage of the boats\u2019 lighting and dock terraces throughout\u2013established a layered palette of design elements, colors, materials, hardscape and furnishings that provided areas of privacy as well as zones where seeing and being seen was paramount during both day & night.<\/p>\n
Significant coordination with interior design firm YabuPushelberg was essential to make this a fluid and captivating experience. An important part of the landscape strategy was the incorporation of shade and screening systems that, together with plant material,\u00a0created microclimates and privacy screens throughout. These shade structures would be illuminated at night, providing a changing\u00a0backdrop to public and private spaces.<\/p>\n
