Lecture at Escola Tecnica Superior de Barcelona (ETSAB), 17JUL09: “Impermanent Infrastructures: Rational & Romantic Derivations at the City’s Edge”

Lecture Abstract: Cities are stubborn repositories of success and failure, inspired advances and humble retreats, proud triumphs and bitter disappointments. The complement of forces that shape and layer meaning upon a city are often most poignant and most revealing at its contested edges.

Roberto Rovira, Landscape Architect and Assistant Professor at Florida International University in Miami, will discuss his engagement with these topics through his professional and creative work that considers impermanence and incompleteness as essential in the transformation of cities and their landscapes.
