Icemappings

The themes of transformation and time in the landscape were explored using these 33 blocks of ice, each one weighing over 400 pounds and frozen with the petals of over 400 roses. Done in collaboration with performers from music, theater and dance, the blocks’ gradual melting lasted a period of 23 hours, during which the ice formation slowly deposited the petals on the ground.  The installation was part of the “Art, Ceremony & Culture” events produced by the FIU Dance Program, the Intercultural Dance and Music

Institute and the Latin American and Caribbean Center at Florida International University, featuring musician and composer Moti Deren,  and dancers and choreographers Susanna Reyes, Jorge Coello, Elena Ramos and Andrea Seidel. Installation assistance by Glen Santayana, Jennifer Rogers, Lola Bellaflores, Annette Mauro, D. Tam, Tonietta Walters, Anwar Morales].
